Mini First 1

Second flight (first one out doors). Difficult to fly in front of the camera, and try to fly around at the same time.

This one will easily fly until the battery is dangerously low, think it needs voltage monitoring in flight or your going to damage batteries...

3amp is very very good, had mine in the garden before with 2 bladed props and they have plenty of punch, I didnt have vtx on so a little more weight to be added. I will be using a hobby King simple voltage OSD for mine as I have one knocking around. Zero Jello from mobius too, will get video up shortly.

yes a simple voltage osd would be perfect! think I have a knackered one here somewhere, must have a look at it!

No jello, that's good news! still thinking whether to modify the quad or sell it and make my own slightly larger quad frame, say 330mm.

Flew mine on manual and landing was worse than with self leveling on! keeps bouncing back in the air! still on default settings though...

looks like its well under control, ideal for flying in and out of buildings/trees and landing was good!
These little motors have bags of power don't they! I might just bung 1.2 on it, and see what size video battery I can get away with!

Done a bit more initial testing this time with two bladed props! currrent at hover 3.2 amps, actually at bit too close to the previous 3A on 3-blades, I'd say that the current taken is roughly the same!

Full throttle this time was 20Amp, quite a bit more than the 3-bladed props, Didn't (couldn't) measure thrust and the top rpm is certainly to be much higher...

Did some basic tests on the mini hex, weight ready to fly with 1300 mAh battery 464 gram
Current at hover 5A
Current full throttle 29A

Props used 5X3 two blade

This is the first chance I've had to compare different layouts using the same components.
The measurements alone are pretty useless, but used as a comparison, I'd say there is a strong indication that the hex layout is less efficient system than a quad! in fact following that reasoning, the octo would be the least efficient!

Although I haven't tested further, it would also point to a tricopter possibly being more efficient, and a conventional single rotor helicopter as the most efficient!

So apart from the "impress your friends - I've got an Octo viewpoint" the best route I would take is, want more lift then use bigger motors and props on your quad!

Took the mini hex out for a spin, Landed lightly in grass but it took a tumble, everything ok then went on and used up two more batteries flying around! Only when sticking it back in the boot I noticed one prop spinner was missing! Being self tightening threads I imagine it came off in the tumble (probably came to a quick stop in the grass). Unbelievable that the prop not only stayed on the motors but worked flawlessly as well!...

Here's my spanky,
Done a couple of flights LOS, still sorting out pids on the multWii FC

Shown here with vtx and mobious just laid in place, agree with the 500g target, motors are hard worked but capable! First time using the multiwII so a lot twiddling pids ahead
