Ben - where do you buy your 1.2 gear from ? Is it significantly better than 2.4 ?

drones vision, I also use lawmate vtx too which Hobby King sell now, for ages I had a good 2.4 pic then it just went bad and I couldn't get it back so I completely changed my whole ground station setup and frequency.

more like stern letter followed by fine territory (if they even find you)

for best efficiency and reliability, you want all 4 motors spinning at the same speed, producing the same thrust. on a normal quad you'd draw imaginary lines from opposite motors (diagonally) and the CG should be where the lines make a cross.

with a V tail, I'm not too sure. I think you'd treat the rear 2 motors as a single point of down thrust, and make a triangle with the front 2 motors, putting the CG in the middle of that triangle.

If I remember correctly it was slightly forward of the half way mark on the centre section, I kinda thought that as the back to motors lost some thurst with them being at 30 deg angle then it made sense to put the cog about a quarter of the distance between the centre and the front.

just had 2 hours of fun in the garage, not trying to thread nap, just thought I'd share :-)

Finished article :-)
Only changes are the Ali struts down the fuselage and 6mm ply as per MrBens suggestion
and I've set my V angle at 35 degrees

Post away! Looks surprisingly familiar ;)

I wonder how much stiffer it is than my 4mm ply version, mine could twist a bit if I held the rear and tried to rotate the front. You could probably do with some more bolts along the length too to stiffen even more.

I can't twist it at all, very strong, probably a bit heavier though.

Ben, what setup did you use on the KK2 as regards the rear two motors, i'm reading all about
Swapping them over and reversing power , all sorts of different methods on V quads

just swap the esc wires for motors 3 and 4 on the flight controller and of course make sure the props are spinning the right way too.
