that looks really easy to configure and setup. I have a feeling that I'll be able to get the most stable/dialled in quad ever using this board.... mostly because I'll be able to adjust the PIDs right there in the field. All other boards I've used have required me to setup, go outside, test fly, come back inside, connect to computer, adjust, go outside, test fly...... you get the idea. When carrying out that routine, I will usually just "make do" with a particular PID setting and cope with it.

cool postman kindly delivered my KK2 board today - so quickly stripped out my original KK board to try this cool little invention out.

Wow the programming is so simple with even an on screen diagram of the motor config.  So far it works really well (garden and living room flights only - phew LED tv did not get smashed into by out of control quad lol).

One thing I like is the Z axis Acc sensor that dampens vertical movement which was very noticable flying inside.  Need to tweak the settings though as it was not correcting quick enough (fitted to a larger heavy quad)

Head hold and auto level options are switched on with AUX channel or holding aileron full right when arming the board with the usual full right rudder.

Hope to sling it around the local field once it stops raining.

Some pics of my medalling, this morning:

From what I've read, the mounting orientation is different; whereas on the "old" KK boards, one corner faced the direction of flight, on these it's the top edge that faces forward, is that correct? So you have to rotate the mounting 45 degrees?

yes steve, the "front" is the top edge as you look at the lcd the right way up. If you have a KK board currently at 45deg (i.e. the corner is the front) you'll have to modify your mounting solution.

This will be going on a brand new quad build so not that much of an issue for me.

Gav, this might be a big ask (now that you've already mounted the KK2.0) but any chance of a photo of the underside of the board. I would like to see how "flat" it is. I like to use sicky foam tape to mount my FCs. If it's not flat enough, I'll just cut out a bit of ply (or whatever I can find down here) the same size as the board and mount it to that with nylon standoffs, then sticky foam tape the ply to my quad. makes for good vibration dampening rather than having the board rigidly attached to the frame

Hi Chris.  It is mostly flat with surface mounted components on the top, however there are the rx and motor connector pins on the edges that pass through to the underside and a display pin in the centre but other than that plenty of area for sticky foam to attach to.

cheers

right, having has a quick go on a Hexa today, that's what my board is gonna be used for.  I'm building myself a hex, I have decided.

Next, do I stick with DT750's or go for different motors...?

I'll always say RCTimer motors, for sheer reliability and price. here's what I'd use on a 3S http://rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=554&productname= and this for a 4S http://rctimer.com/index.php?gOo=goods_details.dwt&goodsid=523&productname=

I ended up cancelling my order with HK, because of the mess around with USD/GBP pricing, I'll sleep on it and see if I still fancy it tomorrow.  The more I think about it, the more I think why bother, so I'm probably gonna re-build my quad which is slightly cannabalised at the moment and stick the KK2 in it, just to see how much better it is with self levelling.

the missus told me another parcel arrived today back home. I'm only waiting on 2 x items now, my goggles back from Gregory @ Fatshark, and my KK2.0. fingers crossed its the KK2.0 that way I can actually get on and start building the quad. get it working LOS and tune it before putting the FPV gear on.

out of interest, what where you ordering from HK Steve? (i'm nosey lol)
