just sent the throttle store this:

Quote
Hi, first I'd like to say thank you for the fast shipping. Skywalker arrived today, only 4 days very good.

However, when I opened the box it was clear that there was something wrong. The smell from the box was awful, smelled like burnt plastic. When I eventually got to the skywalker fuselage I quickly saw that it was full of charcoal and the box containing the LiPo was damaged. I opened the box and this is what I found

Also, one of the bullet connectors on the motor had come off.

I think this has been packed up and been in storage for a long time, from experience it's not good to store LiPo's in this manner and the damage could have been worse. Thankfully the plane itself is in good condition and the charring was easily wiped clean.

Please could you arrange for partial refund to allow me to purchase a new LiPo battery and some bullet connectors so I can resolder the motor wires.

Many thanks

I think I'm being more than fair. If I'm not satisfied with their response I'll keep it and get my money back from the credit card company

well, we'll see how quick they respond. In the mean time I'm going to crack on with the build regardless. if they request I return it I'll claim through the credit card company instead and get all my money back.

after dismantling the fuse halves here's what was in the box.

gutted about this canopy though, I wanted the other version which is completely flat and the same shape as the canopy area instead of this built up version. I wont use it. I'll keep it for when (if) I ever fly it LOS

Anyone ever heard of AOXAN??!

motor is massive, looks sturdy enough but not very smooth when I manually turn it, actually takes a bit of effort. awful no-brand servos, but the 9x6E prop looks and feels pretty good quality... but for the sake of a few quid I have some master airscrews on order and APC's too.

I would go and buy one long carbon rod so you can put it in the wings and glue them all together as a one peice.  I don't like the 2 carbon rods one for each side of the wing.... You maybe able to use one though to help strength the mid section ?

Canopy put magnets into the foam and washers and thats then easy fix on

Get some thin ply balsa and make your self a diffrent cockpit area flat if required and again use same washers to hold it all in place

Glad its all there though and looking okay

no Mark. those carbon rods join the wing halves, one at the front of the wings one at the rear, like this:

mines the v4 wing, better and stronger than just one in my opinion and experience with the bixler and FPVRaptor

i recently ordered some m3 captive nuts. I'll embed those into the foam around the canopy area. I have some 3mm mdf (heavy I know, but I have tonnes of the stuff and no ply so I'll use what I have) and can easily make up a few flat platforms, need to test out a few different configs as I want to use Pixim as flight cam, but also want the GoPro on there too. obviously I want the gopro up front to get clean footage, i can cope with a bit of the gopro in the bottom of the shot of the flight cam if need be.

got my ass in gear and sorted some more of the build

CF strip arrived this morning, so I went to work on the wing strengthening. 2 x 50cm strips underwing, and 1 x 50cm strip on top. glued in with gorilla glue (no water) and secured with glassweave tape.

all servo's installed and control surfaces hinged. (rudder yet to be installed though)

I had the stickers from the FPVRaptor and a Hobbyking/Turnigy sticker sheet with the FrSky 2.4 system that arrived today. What do you think of the design?

GPS Sensor in the intended flight cam pan servo slot.
