xxpitt's 4s mini build
« on: October 22, 2014, 10:11:13 PM »
some pics from the my new 4s mini, had a minor hic up on the way. the motor screw slots on the arms were 2m so had to file them out to 3m, that was 16 slots to do, took a while, when i finished 2 slots on each arm didn't line up so had to file more. all turned out ok in the end, but was filing for well over an hour  :'(

4 X M3 screws to attach each motor seems ott, are these motors a lot larger than the RCX 2400's ?

if the there may as well use them though hey, not gona save massive weight just using to screws

having a problem though, my motors dont sound like there getting any faster after abouth 40 throtttle, don't know if there going full throttle at 40% or only going to 40% then stopping there

Remember when I asked you about screws/bolts dave ? Its because I had 16 of them in my hand at the time.. Quiet heavy If you ask me probably as heavy as my vtx.. god knows I don't have scales.. Heavy anyway!

Did I mention they were heavy?

Dave sounds like motors are being fussy with esc used. That's the good thing about rcx esc they work with everything. You could try simonk_2013-05-15 fw that one works on f10s

Have you got a non flashed ESC to test with. most rc brushless motors have no internal position sensors, this means that ESC firmware designers do there own thing as regards how the pulses are supplied to the motors!  As Ben said, there are going to be some bad mismatches between particular ESC's and motor's The common being squeal at start up. I'm also not surprised that a motor designed for 2300kv is complaining when it's loaded down by a prop to 20,000 or less rpm. when 2300kv at nominal 16v = 36,800RPM. In fact the surprise is just how well some combinations do cope so well.

Of course it could be simply that something was overlooked! Try one esc and motor driven directly from the Rx, if that works ok then the problem is with your configuration!

Esc problems for me dave have always been at 80 percent throttle and above with these pancake motors on minis , have you treys one str8 to rx and not going to naze is your max throttle set wrong or summat , when it's secs I would describe it as you get to a point on throttle where it don't go any faster but just pulses slightly and misses  intermittently

Afro 12a secs have been gr8 on ones I have built here , but the blue series are spouse to be fine with pancake motors also

Are you testing with a prop on ? If not use a prop on one to test

I had this on my mini motors didn't feel or sound like they were spinning ant faster after half throttle with no props on but I put props on and they were fine this was through naze not directly from RX. I suspect if you put them direct from rrx they will be ok.

This is with props off going through naze wouldnt you know I hard wired it to the naze so cant test direct from RX. I can put a 3s on there see if that works any better. Don't want to have to reflash them as that basically means a  full rebuild to them. One of the cobras is rough as a badgers are too :( might have a complain to multirotorparts.no but don't fancy returning it

Well multirotorparts.no sell these escs as a match to the cobras so would hope it wouldn't be a miss match. Maybe the firmware though. If it is going full throttle at 40% think I could calibrate escs so full throttle is 40% stick? Or something like that to try stretch that 40% to full stick range

better to get it working as it should rather than trying to work around the issue, you are going to have to desolder one of the ESC/motor and do some tests
