1.2Ghz Video antennas
«

Just taking the plunge at buying some 1.2Ghz gear (Ben it's your fault after seeing the spanky I want some urban FPV action and I know 5.8Ghz wont cut it!)
I have got the racewood Vtx in my cart and the lawmate Rx. Not sure about antennas for now... The racewood comes with a whip and I am thinking of using the lawmate with a standard whip for now, is that going to give me good results out of the box? With 5.8 gear I have a helical a skew planar and a clover leaf and diversity and it took lots of tuning to get right but I know very little about 1.2 and if it's as tricky to get reasonable results. I will ofcourse do my homework but just want to get an opinion before I place the order
Cheers,
John

Yea you don't need the circular polarisation like on 5.8, and you get the benefit of the higher gain dipoles

I fly both linear and CP on 1.2.
Linear on the skywalker, cos it doesn't exactly bank and roll that much. But prefer CP on my Z60 if I'm flying down low.
Really though there is little in it for most types of flying.

What did you find?
I've looked around too as I'm gonna be 2.4 Futaba and 1.2 vtx in the next month or so and have read mixed opinions. Iv'e already got the lowpass 1.2 filter lol infact thats the only 1.2 peice of gear I have yet haha

Just that - I am gonna try some 1.2 gear with a low bypass and my frsky radio. From what I understand the filter blocks the rf above 1.2-1.3 but you still have to be careful to shield the rf from the receiver case I think.

depends what vrx your using, if your going to use a raced vrx jut buy the matching colour so not a problem you can choose any, but if your using lawmate, some of them onnly have one or to channels that are compatible, but think one of them has all 4 channels compatible so you prob want to try get that one, think its the red not 100% it tells you in the description of the item which chanels are compatible anyway
