Move over Pixim Seawolf and TBS69
« on: March 18, 2014, 11:10:49 PM »
There's a new king in town :)

Well I reckon so going by the tests I've done today, still got lots more tetsing to do

Bear in mind that the daylight section of this video was recorded on a very basic 2ch D1 DVR, the settings are out of the box bog standard too for both day and night, I wanted to see how it did without any adjustments
So far I'm very impressed with it and can't wait to get it mounted on a plane too, maybe when the wind calms down a bit, the poor quad was getting slammed around today in 24mph gusts from all directions

Great new FPV camera test Small | Large

Looks promising having already own the 800 tvl one that you do I thought that was great and the best I've used is this a improvement over that ?

TBS69 is just a decased pixim seawolf with a customised OSD menu... so that was never a camera of choice for anyone who knows what they're doing in this hobby.

So what is this "new king" camera?

if it's more expensive than a PZ0420, there's no point. for the money you cant get a better camera, and spending any more on a FPV camera is beyond daft.

So far yes, absolutely Martin, the clarity and detail is great
I do like to try to get my hands on things that are a little different/better Martin, in fairness I've only had an hour or two to mess around with it but I did get that "wow, that looks good" feeling the first time I saw the output

If the weather isn't too bad I might get out to record some footage using my DV Camcorder as it's better quality, on a plus side my Mavlink OSD seems to have gone tits up so there'll be no clutter on the recording LOL

Hi Chris, yes I am more than aware of the TBS camera and what it's made of, oddly there are still far more people who buy one of those than those who buy a Seawolf, go figure eh ?, I suppose it may be the fear of having to set things up properly in the menus, who knows, but this cam was straight out of the box settings which I loved

It's actually currently the highest res CCD camera you can get, it's an 800tvl Sony CCD running their latest Effio-V (not effio E or P)
Effio E was good, they went to Effio P on the 700tvl camera which was a disaster for FPV (ridiculously slow frame rate in low light and couldn't handle the sun)

I love the Seawolf, but I also love the 650tvl mini (now that's a great camera too) and the 800tvl CMOS but this one seems to have it all
38 x 38 board cam with removable edges so you can cut it down to 32 x 32, I'm working on a case for it already

Googling around I came up with this http://www.surveilzone.com/sony-960h-ccd-effio-v-800tvl-ultra-wdr-camera-cc1526  might be the one he is refering too.

Not yet mate, just a teaser, want to test some more before I put it online

I'll get to work rigging it up on a plane here, that means installing a Cyclops Storm too though as the only airframe I have left here is bare at the moment, well actually I stuck my APM 2.0 Purple in it but did nothing else to it yet, hmmm. maybe I could attempt that, I've never had an APM plane before, could be cool

Oh, cool
That saved me some bucks, I was thinking of sending one to you for review LOL

You'll love it I reckon, still got some testing to do, weather just isn't allowing me right now, also very very busy

Hopefully later I may be able to start setting up a plane for it

Ruddy hailstones are hammering hard here

My novice mate despite being told countless time decided to loft his DJI phantom as far as the eye can see and beyond

Of course I get the call to come and help find it
Fat chance, no way he's ever getting that back, the winds up there must have been in excess of 40mph, it could be miles away eve with it fight to return to home it would be going backwards at 15mph until the battery died

That's over £900 down the drain with his GoPro 3, video tx and now obsolete all in one GS, well I suppose he still has that not sure if he's going to make use of it now though
