XBOX ONE or PS4

My Xbox live gold subscription just expired, and there's no point in renewing until I get back from deployment... but by then I'm sure there'll be a few bundle deals out for the 2 new consoles.

My question is... which one should I get?

I'd like arguments for and against each console please

there pretty much same spec wise , moreso than any consoles in the past and that has been done for a reason to help developers, ive always liked sony but id have to say xbox has the market

PS4 has better spec, more processor cores, its the only one out of the two that can do 1080p, xbox is 720p max as it stands. Xbox might have a few better games on launch though

this is actually something i really need to know, i can't decide. i play the 360 but cant decide on the next gen. its the whole 720 vs 1080 thing thats got me torn, if they were both 1080 i would get xbox for sure. although on all the xbox vs ps4 vids on youtube the graphics look the same maybe even a little better on xbox on some tittles.  how long will that last, when developers really start to use the powers of the systems and with 4k tv's being released how can xbox compete with ps4 graphics then, these are going to be around for the next 10 years atleast, so the games will start to look better and better on both system. Xbox missed a trick with 1080, its not even a trick it's been around for yonks.... idiots, maybe they will bring a 1080 version out in a year or so when they realise thats what people want.

I've pretty much decided on the ps4, main reason is the fact that you don't have to get a subscription to play online.

Are you sure, I've read somewhere that for ps4 they will charge to play online and that prices will be more than xbox.

From what ive read/heard:

xbox is more home media center, to link everything up to as one big thing.

PS4 is more for gaming.

I heard ps4 network will cost money too.

My mate has both, well will have next week. So ask me again soon and ill let you know what I think.

Went and played on the Xbox today. The graffix are pretty amazing, and it runs very fast and smooth. The voice activation thing isn't perfect, still a bit hit and miss. Works more often than it doesn't tho, maybe 80-90%.

Going back to play the PS4 on Friday if all goes to plan. If not will go next week.

I think for me, I'm not 100% into the whole voice activation stuff, or any of the games or apps that use the kinect, I'm more towards the actual gaming side of things and am not too interested in using the console as my home media hub.

Plus, the PS4 is nearly £100 cheaper, I can buy a playstation Plus subscription too and I'll still be saving money

The voice activation on everything is pretty much a gimmick to me. Funny to mess around with for a few mins but still not better than pressing a button.

Your xbox live membership does carry over to the xbox one, which is good. I expected them to charge again.

Will let you know when ive played the PS4 what I think.

My xbox live ran out on 01 Nov anyway, so I'd have to stump up for a new one.

Don't know about xbox, but I know PS3 owners who've just bought COD Ghosts get a coupon so they can buy COD Ghosts for the PS4 for only a tenner
