FPVManuals Pro Tricopter Delrin Kit
« on: January 13, 2012, 06:07:49 PM »
after home building 2 x quads I think I'm entitled to get a little lazy and have someone else do the hard work for me. so I've ordered this, the Pro Tricopter Delrin Kit from FPVManuals http://www.fpvmanuals.com/tricopter/

all you need to complete the kit is the arms (material of your choice, i'm getting wood phnarr pharr) and the electronics. I know it seems a bit OTT for a Tri, especially seeing the fantastic results from Balders homebrew Tri, but I thought to my self... for £70 delivered... why not :)

I already have all the gear ordered for when my intention was to homebrew, so motors/ESC/props and flight controller have already been purchased. the sale of my fatsharks today sealed the deal. it was either this or put the money towards the FY31AP/HornetOSD package.... maybe next month :)

[upadte] here are the pictures of my Tricopter at "frame built" stage, yet to sort out my electronics but they're all in the shed waiting to be soldered. might change my mind about the motors though, they look tiny but I'll see how these ones perform first (CF2822/14 1200kv)

I've ordered that very same Servo, but because of Chinese New Year it's taking an age for the status of the order to change from "reserved" to Shipped. even though there are 10+ in stock.

Looks like the Tri kit will arrive before the servo, reason I was asking is I already have plenty of 9g servos in my kit box

I feel your pain, im waiting on stuff from before new years from China too. Hope it arrives soon.

You can use other servos, its just a matter of how they fit in the little bracket. If your Tri arrives before the servo just see if you have one that will fit in the hole.  :D

The servo arrived during my time away from home. I have everything I need now. Ratty took my CopterControl off my hands, so I'm left with a Crius MultiWii SE for flight control. I also just ordered a stabilised GoPro gimbal, will be running it in conjunction with a dedicated FPV cam, my new Pixim Seawolf. This Tri should be tha dogs by the time it's complete :)

I have also just ordered this kit last week and all the recommended equipment.... so between us all it shouldn't be too hard should it? :)

Just wondering what controller board to get... I want to get something a bit fancier than a $15 HK control board. Any suggestions? Multiwii?

You wont be dissapointed, great bit of kit. You shouldnt have any probs with the build either, it goes together very well.

As for the controller, ive been using a HK KK board on mine and it works fine. Once the CC arrives thats going on it tho.  ;D

londonguy, I recommend the Crius MultiWii board from Goodluckbuy.com that's what I'm going to be using, it's good enough that I sold my CopterControl to Ratty :)

Really, it's just mocked up for show... I'll be dismantling it soon as I'm not too keen on the nylon screws/bolts. Dont get me wrong, they do the job but I think I might have stripped some threads during the build... even though I only used my fingers to tighten it up.

I went for the 800kv motors in the end, ordered them not long after posting up the pictures last night, just need to find a place that has 10" props in stock.

Looking good Chris, goes together real easy doesnt it.

With the nylon nuts and bolts i just did them up finger tight then put a drop of super glue on the nut. It will never come off. You have to cut it off if needed. Which is easy with a sharp blade. They are cheap enough to chuck and replace imo.
