prop size can depend on overall weight of the thing as well.heavier..bigger props etc..
try and build it light..
if it was me i would buy a HK KK2 board and save a ton of messing.KK2's fly real nice straight from the box with very little setup.

I must have some weird streak in my DNA as I bought the kk+ out of curiosity !! Just can't quite figure the ppm encoder channel assignment. Some literature says channel 1 (on the encoder) is aileron but the speccy rx has throttle on channel 1. I'm probably making it more complicated than it actually is !!

looking at it cant see 2 well in pic, but its kk with auto stab board and ar600 dont think you need encoder in the mix just connect ail, ele, thr, rud to kk2 and wire motors up as on site

is board flashed for tri

Martin - yup I got it from Singapore preloaded. The instructions to fit the mems to the kk+ look straightforward but like you say I couldn't figure out why you would need an encoder? Cheers for the reply.

Cheers for the comments Martin

Been away from home until last night. Think the wife wanted a chat but i deceided to make some progres on the Stealth instead  ;D.

Ive put a wiring loom together and (after checking rotation direction) hard wired the rear motor in as i wont be able to check the connections at a later stage.

After a bit of head scratching i figured out i could feed the whole loom in from the rear through the servo opening, sit the forward esc's just inside the 'wings' and then connect up the front two motors. Luckily the control board platform is screwed in place and can be removed to fiddle.

Soldered the mems gyro into the KK+ board as well so i will test it with my multimeter tonight.

Any idea what would be a good servo for the rear motor? I presume a named brand metal high torque, high speed jobbie but some of you guys will have more experience than me on this.

ive used hs85mgs on tri`s of that size that worked great but there are cheaper and faster servers as they are not digital , but they did work with kkboard gr8

Tried both ways, with and without encoder, since discovered the kk mems software has only been developed to be used with the encoder. I couldn't get the normal set up to work!

never needed an encoder when I used the KK board. If you dont have the ability to re-flash the KK board, I suggest buying a KK2.0 from hobbyking. Mark Shark will have a spare one when his Naza arrives, he might be willing to part with it, saves the hassle of buying from China.

just flashed my KK2, must admit to a little aprehension as it flies so well out of the box, but blimey, what a difference!  They have nailed auto level! Snaps back level.

Well you know what its like when you are desperate to get something flying. Im so pi**ed off, this particular kk+ board is rubbish. Seems to arm a couple of times when asked then on the next go it cant be bothered. Nearly trashed the new tri watching it pitch about all over the field. Ive given up on it now and i think the KK board will be dropped from the bomb hatch i made for one of my helicopters!!

I know my ravings are not very well thought through - but this thing is winding me up.

Mark - if you are out there i will have that hobbyking board off you if it can be flashed with tri firmware and you want to sell it !

bomb hatch !!!! now we are talking :)

it must be flashed with strange fw , they are normally str8 forward , ive got an old kkboard here with tricopter 1.5fw tested working and configured, most you would need to do is reverse yaw and ajust pots but came out of working flying tricopter , would get you airborn

no autolevel mind

just a thought , try moving endpoints on your tx to give more range , that might help with intermittant arming
