« on: October 17, 2012, 09:06:15 AM »
They are doing three versions of it...a 5mp "White", 11mp "Silver" and 12mp "Black"

Details on http://gopro.com/hd-hero3-cameras

The Black has got built in wifi, does 1080 at 60fps, 720p at 120fps.  Gonna need a pretty fast SD card I should imagine :)

I need to read the spec, hope it doesn't do 1080p @ 60fps only in 170 degree mode, that would be not much better than Hero1 which does 720p @ 60fps only in 170 degree mode.

And we would need option to disable wifi, I can see that causing all sorts of interference!

HERO3 cameras are still pending certification in uk
ie not available yet!

Looks like its only the black edition that has a narrower fov on 1080p @ 60fps
That's the most expensive one!

I don't think of it as de-valuing what we have...it's still worth the same to you, as the user...I didn't buy mine in order to get decent money when I came to sell it...

I'll quite happily carry on just using my "2".  Still gives great results.

ooooh, this means I can upgrade to a HD2 soon then :)

I could only afford the HD1 when they released the 2, lets see if the HD2 hits the £150 mark

not sure it devalues our cams, a go pro is cheap for the results we get

the knocks my hero has taken over its life is complete madness many out of its case

and the hero 3 will prolly be better

joy :)

OK, I'd hold fire on shelling out the cash.....

Firstly you'll be paying considerably more for cinematic resolution and quyite frankly even though we now ahve good 1080p who actually watches our videos in anything other than 720p ?, in fact I wouldn't mind betting that many don't even change the viewing quality from 480p to watch
Anyone here have a TV capable of greater than 1080p resolution ?

Seems that the only real advantage for our use is maybe slo mo frame rates beyond 60fps now for 1080 as well as 720

If you're a proffesional and knwo how to make the best use of the Protune recordings then it is definately worthwhile otherwise the slimmer profile of the Sony still gets my vote for our use

the only thing remotely desireable for me is the 720p @ 120fps

otherwise, my HD1 is perfect right now.

In that case the Sony is probably a much better deal (same as I'm thinking as I'll not use Protune or 4k or 2.7k)

I could not help myself and have preordered the black version from Action Cameras.

cost £359.99 - should be out around mid November.

will post examples as soon as it arrives.
