LOL
Yeah, I've turned autoland off now, nice gimmick but the subsequent attempts weren't so great :)

The APM2 (Ardu Pilot Mega 2) has built in (pre-soldered) GPS, magnetometer, 3 axis gyros, 3 axis accelerometers and barrometric pressure sensor

I'm still playing with it and the RTL is flaky at the moment, it's not very accurate plus it overshoots the mark which is dicey and means you have to make sure you armed the board at least 100ft away from any obstacles such as trees
Still I am working on tweeking the PID's and stuff to see if I can figure it out
I reckon it will almost certainly need the GPS separated from the main board as other manufacturers have found it impossible to isolate interference, for example the Loiter (position hold) will work great then suddenly it wants to shoot off then eventually come back again, that to me indicates loss of accurate satelite lock (but that's a guess)

It is ALWAYS pre-order from DIY Drones as they build them to order, they dispatch in around 2 weeks, alternatively pay a little more and get one from Readymaderc

I'd hold off unless you're a tech head as there doen't seem to be many answers forthcoming on their forums, maybe folk there are just a bit slow to reply but for people like me that's an issue as I don't knwo how to fine tune it and the answers are proving difficult to find

Ooooooh, been messing with the PID's and went out to test again
It's far better on the RTL now

What's really cool on this is that you can change PID settings for different modes separately

Go for it if you're happy to figure everything out for yourself/the wiki
Responses on the diydrones forums are next to zero, very odd that

I did a lot of researching this when I was thinking of getting one. CS is right, the responses over on DIY Drones are virtually non-existent. all the developers keep their stuff "in-house"
