Bodmin Moor

Hi chaps
managed to get out with a plane for the first time in ages today.  Decided to take it easy and just do some AP, off to a good start - got the plane ready - launched it by hand throw - 'Shit that hurt'  - I'd forgotten about the shoulder surgery a couple of weeks ago!!

Anyway - not overly exciting but thought I'd share a few.  It was so nice to be flying again after having been laid up for a while and it was a great day.  Clear skies - light breeze - the sort of day you feel glad to be alive.

Some simple pictures - I really need a better camera.

yeah this is just a Canon A480 (about £40 in ebay) using chdk to fire away every 5 seconds.

Looking for a better one again - had an A640 which took better pictures but I nosedived it.  :'(

Nice pics Rick.

I've been looking on eBay for a cheap canon (after your reply to saltyfpv's thread).

It need so be small enough to fit in the fuselage of a skywalker pointing down (through a hole obviously) for aerial mapping.

I'd stick it on the side under the wing Chris (not that I have a skywalker here to know how I'd do it!)
I have a strip of aluminum which I sit under the wings as they slide into the fuse and the wings hold it in place, then there is just a hole in one end through which I can put a tripod size bolt to hold the camera. Dead easy and you can bend the aluminium to any angle to look straight down or at an angle.  No holes cut in anything for that.

Or you could use the same theory across the canopy area on the SW perhaps again to avoid making holes in the fuse?  I'll take a snap shot if it would help explain what I mean?

Most but not all Canons do the CHDK stuff so you should find one easy enough.  Plenty of info here if you've not seen it yet.

I would imagine the skywalker would make an excellent platform for it.

that sounds like a more practical way of doing things. Like you say, no cutting holes or moving stuff around (altering CG) to get it to fit in the fuse

some pictures of your setup would be useful for ideas.
