what servo,s for a gimbal
«

I have mounted my go pro on a gimbal and have been experimenting with servos to give a smooth movement, but i am finding that all types of servo i have used do not give a smooth action, all is perfect without the weight of the camera but once the gimbal is loaded i still get the occasional jitter during movement.
The gimbal is ball raced and well made on a solid frame so i think the entire issue with jitter is all from the gear train and feed back pot or servo quality.
Has anybody else had any issues this way?

I think they recommend indirect drive for the best results. I've thought about damping the drive with some stiff foam as the link between the servo and what its connecting to but never got around to it so far.
If hoped the foam might absorb the jitters.
Be interested to hear any other ideas too.
EDIT: for indirect read also geared which would of course minimise the jitters effect through reduction gearing. They also use full 360 servos so that they can do this without having the limitations of the direct drive servos.
