One of our pals has ordered some 2.4 video gear,will our 2.4 speccy radios be affected if he's FPV'ing with his gear.?

I have the same trouble. Turn on the video gear before the spektrum then hopefully the spektrum will detect the used freq and hop past it.

Like said you will get interferance on your video tho.

Oh yea video will get lines galore :)

Also be aware with spektrum you want Full range recievers and even then you will have limited range...

I would like to assume the spectrum frequency hopping malarkey will avoid the video frequencies... but that can't be said for your friends video gear. He will be the one with problems, not you.

If there using DX7 or DX6i there will be no channel hopping

If they use a DSX8 and use DSM2 no channel hopping

DSX8 and DSMX = channel channel hoping will happen over 21 channels....

So DSM and DSM2 = no channel hoping

DSMX = channel hoping over 21 channels out of the 90 available

Futaba 2.4ghz Fasst channel hops... over all 90 channels in the 2.4ghz range for model flying!
