Quality still pictures which camera?
«

Hi guys i have recently got my quad flying very very sweet with the help of a fellow flyer
The naza system is the bee,s knees as far as i,m concerned. smooth as silk
I am intending to take some quality stills from her this summer setting up each shot using my fpv system.
I am looking for a camera of reasonable quality with the ability to fit a direct rc shutter release, i,m not interested in servos,s and button pressing its not reliable enough.
I,m only now getting into photography, and have a bridge camera which takes nice stills but obviously to heavy, a go pro i feel does not give the quality i need either.
Any suggestions would be welcome

Hi Salty
I like to use cameras from the Canon range purely for the CHDK stuff which enables you to run software on it for various things - including intervalometer type stuff - ie take a picture every
seconds (set by you). By doing that - I just put up the plane or copter and fly around aiming it in the right direction, knowing that it is constantly taking pictures for me. Often the ones that you like are not necessarily the ones that you get when you think you are lined up perfectly.
There are various cameras that can do this type of thing but Canons can be picked up cheap as chips and the CHDK is free anyway to download and put on the SD card.
Just my 2p worth.
I look forward to seeing some pictures soon!

Hi Rick thanks for your input, ill spend some time looking at those possiblities, sounds a sound idea just clicking away with a larger mem card in.
I was wondering if i may ask which model camera you use yourself, I like the go pro but that fish eye just needles me so much
For my intended use a proper picture is essential
I will post pics when i,m up and running proper

With the Gopro 2 you can change the settings to remove the fisheye.

Im selling a gopro 960 with sunex lense (no fisheye) but I'm sure there are better cameras for stills.

yeah the gopro2 can be set to 1080 narrow fov which is pretty close to a normal camera and of course can be set to take stills however many seconds you like.

I used to use a 10mp A640 til I nose dived it into the ground. At the moment I'm just using an A480 but there are loads from the Canon range that use CHDK so you can choose your quality/price band.
You can also get simple servo trigger devices that will run timers for triggering the shutter button but to be honest - for stills (and a cheap camera you're not afraid to lose or right off) Canon CHDK is a good option.
I'm hoping to get a go pro at some point for some video stuff - especially now that the version two is out so version one cameras are available a lot cheaper. Ben's is a good price but I don't have that money at the moment.

The GoPro "photo every x" setting works well, the resolution of the pics are really good and with the wide angle of the lens you're pretty much sure to capture what you're pointing at
I used that setting to make a few time lapse videos too.
