Powering UHF
«
on:

So I've managed to get chainlink working with my Dx6i, and an external lipo battery powering the UHF Tx.
I've just been testing with a 2200 3S but it's blooming heavy and want to fit something smaller, but I'm not sure of how small I can go and retain decent flying times between recharges.
Would a 500mah 3S last a fair while or is that going a bit too small? I guess I could just fly for a while and see how much I put in to the pack, but I kinda wanted to get the install nice and tidy asap.
Any opinions?

Oh really? Bear in mind the actual tx is powered by its own battery if that makes any odds.

Do you have a multimeter that can measure amps? if so hook it up in series with your battery and UHF unit and power it up and measure the current draw. This will let you make an educated guess on how much battery capacity you need.
As a comparison, I have a tgy-9x radio with an OpenLRS and a 7Watt booster. I power the lot off the 8 sanyo eneloops!
