Couldn't hear what he was saying!

Was it, your flying to near the road?
Wrong time of the day?
I own everything here?
Like your car, is it for sale?

yeah sorry about the audio guys, I actually forgot I was recording at the time he basically was saying I cannot fly from that spot and over the land where I was weaving inbetween the trees he says the council own it right upto the cattle grid and I wanted to see something to correspond to that claim.

You should have challenged his ownership of the land and then went on to ask just how much of the sky he owns :)
Where does his bit of sky stop, at the sun maybe ?, does he shout at planes passing overhead ?

No, he nor anyone else owns it, it's either controlled airspace or it's not controlled airspace

Yes but be careful! There is no common land, as such, anymore.Every tiny bit of land is owned by someone! If it's its the national park then they can stop you, if it Duke of Westminster, then his agents who administer the land can stop you, simple as that!

Its all a case of not creating waves, just keep it friendly, move along and fly somewhere else! If you don't next time tyou go there to fly, there will probably be a 'No flying' notice stuck up...

Sometimes bm people can be very unreasonable, if we simply move on every time someone tells us to we'll end up with nowhere

Here's an example
The School field I sometimes fly on has a road leading down to it which also leads down to a small holding
We have permission from the school to fly there, the land owner of the small holding kept trying to ussher us off and prevent us from using "his" road to access the school field
Well after the last time things got a little heated, so being an ex rights of way officer for the TRF I decided to do some digging
Turned out that the arrogant and rather ignorant (ex policeman) land owner doesn't own the road at all, it is council owned, he even tried to resort to lying to pretend we had blocked the road with our parked cars when in fact we were parked on the slip road leading to the hard standing on the field not blocking anything (I don't think he realised that most of our aircraft have cameras attached and recording

Just to let you know, we never fly noisey or over sized planes there, always electric and no fast one's, the land owner had no objections to the planes/aircraft jsut the use of the road

Anyway
Sometimes you have to fight your corner and not concede to people with selfish intentions or just plain bullies

Rule No1: Know your rights clearly and not from what anyone else told you or what you read on an unofficial website (including me)
Rule No2: Be polite but firm, that's easier if you follow rule #1
Rule No3: Be prepared to fight your case (know who the correct authorities are and be in good standing with them)
Rule No4: If you know what you're doing is wrong, apologise and move on
