3d fpv is cool if you do it the right way. I did some tests in the past and showed it to bystanders. The guy was afraid of height after seeing the footage
I used a monitor with dual receiver/pip function and I made a sort of funnel around it with a centre plate. (left eye only sees the left part of the screen and vice versa)
as camera i used 2 gopro's with modified lens.
Keep in mind that the ratio between the camera's must be right to get a proper 3d image. roughly you can say that you need 33 mm between the lenses of the cam if your closest point in the image is 1 meter away. with two meter you need 66 mm, with 3 meter you need 99mm and so on. This way you prevent headaches and ghost images.
