spanky upgrade

This is the Spanky in question. it has 2204 motors and 10 amp ESC's!
It's fine on 3S but with this upgrade, it will be able to run on 3S or 4S (with 5x3 props)
It will give a larger choice of batteries and power levels. pids will ideally need to be optimised for each setup! or maybe not!

uhf 433mHz, probably crap as antennas go, but tucks away nice and unlikely to fly out of range on a mini-quad. Even if the rx antenna gain is only 0 dbi it's good for 10 km.

Left side= original 10A ESC's. Right side = the 12A Esc's installed with the 2206 motors

The 12A ESC have no bec so will install 5A ubec under the Rx! Trouble is, is that the rx is much wider than the ubec! Normally would just cut some foam rubber (done in five minutes) Or spend a couple of hours printing a custom holder!

Kept the camera mounting plate as it is fine, but while it was apart it was a chance to draw up a modified mounting plate with built in stand-offs

looking good there BM, there is certainly a lot more room for ESCs on the spanky compared to the ZMR250 frames

Yes they fitted in quite easily!
Don't know what to say about the zmr frame, it ideally needs to be lengthened! maybe printed plates might be strong enough.
Otherwise the install is like 10 times easier just to stick the esc's on the arms, don't seem to affect the flying either.

this is one of the things I love about the spanky so much easier to build seeing as you are fitting the whole power plant to a single plate, then pop on the top frame when you are ready, no messing about with 4 bolts per arm etc

just printing another set of spacers for that zmr. 10mm thick this time! stick the 18a escs on the arms and see what it looks like!
regards the spanky, I didn't like the hole pattern where the motors go, have had to file/re-drill the holes for every motor I've fitted yet, so they are slowly getting larger
