I've heard buildtak is great for fixing that warping that still appears, with the fan off and it enclosed, add buildtak and you'll be golden!

my printer came with buildtak , its not so gr8 it makes some parts impossible to get off bed when printing and it does not help warping any more than abs juice
some printer manufactures say you dont need a heated bed for abs if you use it
its all lies , its just another tool that can help but no holy grail
best thing for pla is blue painters tape imho

I found a lot of conflicting info out there in general, some supposedly good solutions just didn't work here at all! I think every printer is different and a new operator/owner needs to do a bit of experimenting to find the best way that works for him! This even extends to what slicer your using! Have used a few now but gone back to Cura.
Think a heated bed is almost a necessity, I prefer glass, with glue for PLA and juice for ABS but still get failures, especially on others stl files where they have given insufficient, or misplaced supports. And being stl files is almost impossible in most cases to try to edit without pulling your hair out!

Yup, in my experience blue tape actually hasn't been the best, mostly because its adhesion with the PLA varies from brand to brand and even roll to roll. Glue on glass w/ a heated build plate around 60-90 is perfect for PLA, and with that setup I'm not sure I've ever seen warping, but on an unheated plate, tape or glue should do it. I've had issues with ABS where the whole thing was doing fine, but I left it over night and the heater got turned off and it warped a bunch, so I would reccommend insulating the printer.

I tried so many printers last years and most of the suck. But good news I now have a more professional printer and the quality is top notch. No more issues with warping and the 3 micron layer thickness is so fine that abs models look polished out of the printer (depending on the type of abs)
In my opinion you better can pay for the few prints you need then getting a headache from a machine which isn't able to build anything you want it.
Here you can see some print samples. https://www.birds-eye-view.nl/3d-printing/
In case you also need a print you can upload your file on that page to. I will send you an offer asap. Is this quality expensive? NO! Keep in mind that on the hobby machines 90 percent is wasted. Since a spool of abs cost between 25 and 50 euro. Its disappointing to throw all the material and print time away. So a more professional machine didn't cost you 10K or more. Now a days the more professional machines are far more stable then the flimsy hobby machines most people are using.
So conclusion if you only need a print so now and then don't waste your time and money on a hobby machine. If you print almost every day then a printer can be a good investment.
Hope this helps

And when have you found it necessary to go even below 50 micron?

Ben the printer is specially build for us. The base is a cnc milling machine. So heavy duty
And yes heated vacuum bed and heated cabinet to prevent warping.
And bigmouse, yes printing below 50 micron makes sense. the thickest layer thickness I can make right now is 19 micron. And if you see the result between the different layer thicknesses then you understand that this makes sense. Especially when you print overhangs you discover that thin layers cools faster and big plus is that you dont need support in most cases.

bigmouse have no video from it during operation. (we have a no camera policy in our workshop since there are laying lots of classified items around from our professional clients)
Anyway think that you have to agree that the print quality is much better then most other consumer and prosumer printers can do.
So back to the topic. it can make sense to isolate your printer. But keep in mind that the plastic has to cool to stay in form. Just the few degrees in difference between liquid and solid are enough to create slight warps op big parts. And yes my print bed is large, in practise you cant print larger than +-20cm square (depending on print thickness and geometry)
