Micro FPV with a Walkera Ladybird
« on: January 03, 2015, 02:17:22 PM »
Got an Fpv ladybird for a bit of indoor Fpv, the video was useless stock it blue screened after a few metres even with clear los. Now its got clover tx antenna and and I modded the RX antenna so its outside of the transmitter and put a skew on it. Now I can fly all round my house and up and down the street.  ;D
Also changed out the cam lens for a wider angle one.

Got it from hobbyking Dave, Only flown it off the screen but it has an av out so I got a lead to plug in my goggles, your fatshark goggs with 5.8rx will pick up the picture direct from ladybird. Cover is what it came with martin, the antenna mod is a must though the stock antenna are useless. Surprisingly good with better antennas proper fun to fly and decent range too. I looked at the hubsans but most people said the ladybird flew better than the hubsan, it can do flips and rolls as well. The little screen does blue screen but is pretty good. Would be mint off fatsharks much better.

Great stuff gav!

I already have the TX5805 but it has a little pigtail antenna. Is that the same as yours? Does the cam module just slit in below the main fusalage? Do you have a link for the one with the vtx clover ?

Yeah that's the same one martin I just opened up the little box desoldered the little antenna and soldered the clover on, it just stuck to bottom of battery tray with a  3mgyro pad  yes from internat warehouse Dave and amazingly I didn't get stung though I think I was lucky as most do with SCS.

I'm very tempted. Is the antenna mod just for the vtx or is the 2.4 control poor as well? Id be running off the fatsharks and have already done the wideangle cam mod. next step would be to convince you to make me a little clover :) only need the vtx side :)

No worries I will make you a clover for it anyway. ;D I have not really tested the 2.4 control range but I think itwould be good enough to keep up with the 5.8, if not putting a better 2.4 antenna on would be easy anyway.

This is how its mounted , I will bring it next time I'm out so you can have a go.

The hubs an has 8mm motors and the ladybird has 7mm but I think the Hubsan must be heavier cos of plastic shell. You can put 8mm motors on the ladybird from the infra x that make it loads more powerful. But it has enough power stock  I think. The stock batteries give you bout 4-5 min and I have some 600mah ones that give you 7 min, that's proper flying aswell not just hovering about  Hobby king has just got some nanotech 750mah back in stock which are supposed to be the best. This thing is mint just been out on my street and did 6 batteries, it flies like a bigger quad  youcan get some real sspeed. I will get a DVR recording tomorrow and put it up.

Got this today!

Just need a new antenna for the Tx5805 as the existing one has already broken the earth 'ground plane' wires. Gav where are you ;)

Need to test fly it outside but there already seems a ton more power compared to the hubsan. Will weigh it and compare.
