Radio Antenna Length
«
on:
December 25, 2014, 12:42:18 AM »
Happy Holidays everyone, just wondering what length I should have my antennas be? I'm using a Turnigy TGY i6 radio and receiver, and the antennas come at a length of 8 or so inches. The ends have a part that is exposed slightly differently, and I was wondering how that works but mainly if I could make my antennas shorter or not. Thanks

I'm guessing that your referring to 2.4g ? If so then most 2.4 RX antennas consist of a screened feeder cable, this is to get the active bit away from the receiver! At the end of the cable there will be a short length where the outer screen has been removed, this is why it looks different! and this is the antenna bit that receives the signals!
If you have a two antenna radio, then the ideal set up is for one antenna to be 90 degrees from the other in a flat plane, Then on the Tx, the ideal is to have that antenna flat (bent over)
I really wouldn't attempt shortening the feeder part, unless your prepared to gamble with it working after!
