With most of my Spanky 250 flying not needing diversity or any kind of range. I decided to build a more portable compact setup that ultimately fits into a backpack so that I can go exploring.

I had a go at this earlier in the year using a cheap tripod and a custom wired cable direct to my goggles. It worked fine until I discovered it's flaws, it could get knocked over by dogs and a gust of wind. The later I discovered when it blew off the top of a sand dune almost dragging my goggles with it.

So I grabbed a Velbon tripod cheapish from Argos (bit more weight than my cheap one) and stumbled upon a kids sandwich box just the right size and shape I wanted. Basically it's a Lawmate 2.4 Rx and a 5.8 relay for the goggles. I've used a bright color and some matching LED's as a visual RTL reference when I'm flying in poor light. It's running off a 3s 2200mAh lipo. Only thing to do it sort out the cover, not really what I want!

heli have you considered designing the cover for it and manufacturing it? Laser cutting a box like that is super easy and all the pieces and their wholes would be done in minutes, if your curious let me know.

haha love the pink box, if you ever get bored of pink you can buy ABS boxes from maplins or ebay in a variety of sizes!

Ah yes but the lunch box is only 89p

Found some stickers in my cupboard with much older girls on them

, I'll borrow some vinyl off a mate to blank the picture and then get my girl on top.

With a bit of spare time on my hands I've 'moded' my GS, no more fairy lunch box. As my mate said "It's gone from cartoon to crumpet, Pocahontas to porn".
