Gear Reccomendations
« on: December 22, 2014, 07:00:25 AM »
Hi, so I am about to get a new frame or two, and am wondering what recommendations anyone has for motors to run w/ 5 inch props on 3 or 4S(preferably 3S)
I am looking at 2204 2300kv options as they aren't too expensive and I have used them in the past. Planning on transfering Rx and possibly flightboard from quad to quad to save $$$ but will probably get another kk2.1.5 for it. What 12A escs have anyone used? I'm looking for preflashed ones that are inexpensive-ish so somewhere between $10 and $20 each. Thanks

the 2204's are good, I run them on 3 & 4S, no problems so far!

Yea you really need to get two flight boards, swapping over is just too much hassle!

Nothing wrong with the KK2's, or you could try a naze32, they both do the same job but feel different in flight, the only pain with the KK2 board is if the board LCD is hidden then its hard to alter settings! The naze need programming before you can fly it but it is quite easy through the usb connection and free programming soft.

These 12a ESC's are simonK and 4S capable No problems with mine yet!

Think this is what I used

agree with BM those esc's and get your motors and props from there too then its just one postage charge and they usually arrive within about 10 days from myrcmart if in stock that is

There seems to be an array of motors for theses minis especially on 3s some more expensive than others . I haven't had much stick time and most of it has been a ballache but i stuck at it.. I have only used rcx 1804 motors which were fine for my first quad a ZMR then after a few rather nasty crashes I thought i would try some more ..I currently run the DYS 1806 motors which seem to be nice quality and perform very well in thrust tests and are only 10 pounds a motor.  I would also suggest a naze32 board haven't used any others but the naze32 is cheap and comes in two flavours the FULL naze which I have now and the cheaper version is half the price both work well out the box and are fairly simple to setup using base flight google chrome app.

I'm not sure what RX you are using and I would recommend buying a second one of those too. though swapping out RX from quad to quad isn't much hassle providing they running the same setup like PPM ect.

Esc's of which there are many...being on 3s I have only used RCX 10a simonk flashed.. but My friend just built a decent quad using 12a afro esc's again pre flashed with simonK firmware. and just 10 pounds a throw.
