My first build - A few questions
« on: December 06, 2014, 11:13:37 PM »
Evening all...

I'm attempting my first build and need some brains to pick at.  :D :D :D
So I've had all my equipment delivered and today I've had a wee bash at trying to throw it together, or some of it at least.
I'm going for a clean'ish build so took a bit of extra time. I have the PDB in place with all ESC's & motors connected.
In the morning I will be adding the Naze, 4 Channel UZUHF reciever and Minim OSD.
Was wondering if you guys could shed some light on any parameters that will need to be set on the Naze and how to configure this? Also if anybody would be kind enough to give some tips on how to go about setting up the receiver in Immersion tools?
I don't know where to start with the OSD to be perfectly honest, feel I may be a bit out of my depth that beast.

Thanks in advance!

Only 4 channel radio means you will need to set your flight mode directly in the config. Angle, horizon, or none. suggest angle or horizon until you get used to it!

Setting up your Naze I would suggest:
Load fresh firmware
then:
then go into cli, type
defaults
set MOTOR_STOP
save

Execute the level procedure

On your Tx:
Set up a model (Plane/acro)
center all trims
make sure all rates are 100%
set sub trims to 1500
set end points1050 to 1950

Throttle set min trim, endpoints to agree with min max throttle settings in baseflight

Leave default pids for now,!

match the esc routine.

That should be good enough for first flights

for the ezuhf rx set ppmmux to channel 1 in immersion tools

in baseflight enable cppm in cli

now you have all 8 channels and you only need one single servo wire between naze and ezuhf

Using ezuhf 4ch rx you need to enable ppm in cli. Then  in the immersion tool you need to turn cppm on can't remember exactly how you do it. But you now have a 12th rx so you can use a switch for modes run a buzzer off a switch and whatever else you like

That's right ppm muted is what you want in imMerston tool. Also you need to make sure your Jr module and rx are running same firmware so do that 1st as it will probable reset the settings to srock.  Think tx will have an a after firmware i .e  1.46a and rx will have a b after it i .e 1.46b

One of the most important yet sometimes overlooked commands for CLI I find is "map TAER1234" for the 9xr Or you will be complaining that your shit don't work and your quad wont even arm :P

Setting up the naze was pretty daunting for me to start with. Was almost like msdos or somethin. It's actually quite simple though.  I recommend just following a guide that's what I done.

This one seems to cover most areas though the gui has changed a little bit it's still good

Thanks for the advice guys!
So I've managed to get the Rx configured and the Naze is all sorted.
Will be connecting a battery tomorrow to sort the ESC and motors out. I've taken a few pics. Ill upload them shortly... but first my Pork Sunday dinner is cooked  :P :P :P
