Mini Craze? How about Micro Craze 120 :)
« on: November 20, 2014, 10:40:50 AM »
Bought myself a Hubsan X4 FPV and having a bunch of fun with it, flying round the house, local park and in and out of my window haha.

I thought I would pimp it out and have stripped the X4 and put it all in a nice CF H-Frame 120mm.

Looking into micro 433 for control and a micro 200mw 2.4G vTX as the next upgrades.

PS: Excuse the messy wiriring. It was a moment of 'I gotta get this in the air, quickly bodge together' and I shall spend an evening tiding up this week.

With modern gear this could be viable!
Naze control board, very small, and 3A ESC's with micro motors.
I'd prefer 2.4 micro Rx and 5.8g video as this would be close range stuff!

What battery size do you think would work?

750mah 1S works best in this setup and gets around 4 mins flight time ( using the Hubsan FPV gear, camera and FC )

There is an awesome little MWC Flight Controller that is a contender. I'm trawling through posts on RCG to find the post about porting to 433 control.

Hobbyking have a 125mm brushless quad, 3a ESCs and it looks like it could be worth buying to have a tweak with.

I'm getting about 30m on my current setup with just a stnadard whip on the vTX. I've heard 100m is possible with the a CP antenna mod.

Exciting times as this is perfect for winter fun, I live in a big old house with massive hallways, and plenty of places to fly :D

So it's progressed slight further :)

10-100mw 5.8GHz Micro vTX with CP antenna at just 1.9grams!!
1gram 520TVL PAL Camera.
CL-0820-15 - coreless motor set.

I'm still awaiting the Micro MWC Flight Controller.

you could also consider a mini naze which is half the size of the original I believe but it only takes cppm from your rx

That's an idea that I've been thinking for a brushless setup. I'm hoping someone else will try it before me so I don't plough money in and it fail hehe.

The great thing about the Micro MWC is the built in DSM2 RX, 4 x Brushed ESCs and very light weight. With these Micros, milligrams are crucial :)

Burning motors out left, right and centre. Really need the Micro MWC as I'm using a Hubsan TX and lots of dumb thumb moments, but it is a toy like controller..
