i dead mind a small dead band but it feels like quite a bit like maybe around 10% of the stick range

deadband on bottom is normal! see the naze guide video on youtube for reference!

so theres no way to get rid? what about y max throotle, if its 1992 on the stick and i've calibrated it to that, what should i set it to in gui as i should leave a little for the naze to play with right?

you could up you endpoint for low end of throttle after you have calibrated I guess, up it too much and it probably wont arm (as it will see the throttle stick as not at zero) my max is what stick says at full throttle I dont leave any for headroom, Im sure thats an old wifes tale.
