Cheers guys :)

Dave - once they claim it as Treasure its the states, they then set up a team to value it etc, the museum interested in aquiring it will be told of this price and will use funds etc to pay the finder and land owner a reward. The British Museum is a kinda middle man unless its something they want themselves.

It was valued @ £700 so i got half, quite a lot i reckon for a 1minute dig and one hell of an amazing buzz once we clicked on what it was :)  ... They still called it my ring when i went to see it and the curator said i can come back anytime and see it :)  Nice legacy there for Carlisle when im long gone lol.

Im happy with my Phantom for the short flights i do, got Project X to collect ... hmmm defo have room for a mini :)

I'm no good with valuation of artifacts but that sounds ridiculously cheap to me! You can't get much of a modern gold ring for that price! I'd give you £700 for it, but believe it's rightful place in in the museum for the public to see!

Lol i cant complain BigMouse, you can contest it but why bother - just like haggling over peanuts really, ill take whatever they throw at me haha

It was sent back twice - disclaimed apparently - unsure why but it was basically mine to keep if our Finds Liaison Officer hadnt taken it to the British Museum herself ans shown it to THE Roman Ring expert for UK.

No worries i can go and caress it anytime ;)

You seriously should Dave, nowt to lose and a great hobby to gain, just gotta put the hours in mate, get some permissions off farmers and off you go :)  Treasure be out there with your name on it ;)

I can advise on a machine if need be, look into these ...

Minelab Explorer XS (around £350 or less 2nd hand) - deep scanning machine when run in manual mode.
Minelab Explorer II (around £400 or less) - deep scanning and better display of Ferrous/Conductive targets. (my backup machine).
Minelab CTX 3030 - what ive just bought - DONT look at the prices or what it has onboard :/ (my main machine).
Minelab X-Terra 305 / 505 / 705 - (around £200 upwards respectively).
Garrett Ace 250 - Noisy fuckers but capable of finding the goods - no idea on price haha
Garrett Euroace - better than the 250 - still a noisy fucker.

Coil upgrades available for the above for more depth.

My Explorer II found the Gold Roman Ring - however the depth it was at (8inches) - any of the above machines would have found it.

Good start there Dave :)

Me earlier :)

Have my Mobius velcroed to the caps peak :)

A GeoHunt - 2hrs 29mins - Targets retrieved: 35

My machine has GPS and can plot on a map where ive detected - and store FindPoints, this one is from earlier. (didnt record any today - nothing nice popped up).

Best find today:

Me: Draw handle looked the nicest lol
Draw handle from 1900s

Tina: Toy lead soldier with no head and 1 arm - been in the wars this guy.

Best find this week:

Me hehe ... Solid Silver Half Crown

Cleaned

What you all waiting for :P

LMAO ;)

Tell you what Dave - obtain some permission and well come down one day with a spare machine and detect with you, only take me 5mins to teach you how to use it ... offer applies to all FPV Forum Members ... in UK ... unless your paying air-fare  :)

Will also advise on the Treasure process if somethng nice is found.
