Mk1s Going BIG.
« on: November 12, 2014, 01:06:42 AM »
I'm thinking about piecing together a larger quad over the next few months. I'm In no rush but As always Its gotta be  fairly cheap. It will be more for docile floating about much like a video filming quad or the likes.

My first port of call and not everybody's favourite is Hobby king Uk warehouse. Speedy delivery, cheap as chips and You kind get what you pay for. so Starting at airframe Here's a couple I found that are within budget.

Hobbyking Super-H 600

https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__64616__HobbyKing_Super_H_600_QuadCopter_KIT_UK_Warehouse_.html

The arms look ok, made from some sort of plastic I guess, plates don't look all that thick and for that reason I could buy 2 and double up On plates!

Hobbyking Alien 560

https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__60363__HobbyKing_174_Alien_560_Folding_Quad_Copter_Carbon_Fiber_Version_Kit_UK_Warehouse_.html

Now I love the look of this machine. Legs are bound to snap off in the first crash but still a sexy piece of kit and still within budget.

Hobbyking Predator 650

A little bit more than I would like to spend to be honest. And those legs look worst than the ones on the ALIEN model above. The ends of the arms don't look all that clever either to be honest, Not sure about this one but It looks nice..

What do you guys think, Yea or Nay?

well the alien certainly looks cooler, but when after cheep frames i always have to give good look buy a visit. plus i'm  not a fan of those dji style arms, break easily which is the idea to save the frame, but also i got mad jello on my tbs discovery and that was with genuine dji arms t-motors and a tbs love seat. not saying it was all the arms but they mist of played there part in it

http://www.goodluckbuy.com/kim500-530mm-fiberglass-4-axis-quadcopter-frame-kit-naza-mwc-support.html always worth giving china a visit when looking for cheap bits

http://www.goodluckbuy.com/kim500-530mm-fiberglass-4-axis-quadcopter-frame-rtf-kit-naza-mwc-support.html don't know if the gimbal comes with it as doesn't mention it in the included items

bigger option 680mm
http://www.goodluckbuy.com/h4-680mm-alien-carbon-fiber-folding-quadcopter-frame-kit-w-landing-gear-for-fpv-red.html

oh wait just come across this looks like a cool little mini, don't really know why you would need a mini to fold unless you want to put it in your pocket or something

Cheers dave! Had a look over those links . As ever I want to try and shop within the uk and none of those frames save me much money to be honest If any.

Think I might sling the Alien 560 from HK in the cart
https://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__60363__HobbyKing_174_Alien_560_Folding_Quad_Copter_Carbon_Fiber_Version_Kit_UK_Warehouse_.html

It looks pretty mean! And for 55 quid I gotta have it..Probably use some cheaper motors like some of the guys in the comments. 15 quid a motor sounds nice.

Mark I saw only a couple 330mm quads atm and like You say the blackout is a popular choice of that size just a bit pricey for me at the moment. and even then I would probably want a bigger quad so ill skip the middle size and have 1 big 1 small :)
