carbon mini H quad
« on: September 20, 2014, 03:11:01 PM »
Couldn't go flying today so decided to finish rebuilding my mini H. Its based on the poor mans carbon mini H http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965226

4 x hk550 base plates, 2 sets of arms from the myrcmart zmr 250, doubled up so the arms are 3mm thick, some spacers and 4 rubber bobbins. Not really a build thread just wanted to put some pics up.

This was my first mini quad and it has took loads of abuse and never broke, it could do with being a bit lighter as it comes in at 430 grams without battery so its about 535 with a 1300 mah battery. It flew great with a multiwii 2.5 on it but now its got a naze32 acro  ;D
Rctimer 1806 2300kv motors, rctimer 12amp esc, hkopenlrs uhf rx, pz0420 cam in plastic case ( could lose a few grams there ) and a 400mw 1.3 tx.

Really cheap frame that flies mint takes some decent crashes and gives jello free video, I used to strap an 808 16v2 cam straight onto the top deck these were really bad for jello and the vids were jello free.

Are the arms bolted together or glued? I was going to try 1.6mm g10 sheets super glued together to make 3.2mm.
Like to see people trying different things!

Just bolted together 2 bolts and locking nuts at frame end then just motor screws at other. I used to have nylon standoffs as landing gear so had another screw into them through arms near motor but not put them on this time.
Thought about gluing them aswell but wasn't sure if it would make the arms more brittle/ likely to snap as they have just enough give in them  as they are to absorb impacts well but stiff enough to not cause vibes.
I could never get it much lighter than it is now but realised today if I move the front and back posts in a few mm 6 inch props will fit on   ;D
