GoPro vs Mobius
« on: July 10, 2014, 12:29:15 PM »
I recently bought a second hand GoPro 3 Silver... before that I had a regular lens Mobius, and before that a GoPro 1

I must say, I'm very disappointed with the picture I'm getting from the GoPro 3, so when my new wide angle lens Mobius arrived, I decided to do some comparison shots. I think I need to drop the saturation a bit on the Mobius and perhaps increase the white balance slightly but I do prefer the colours I'm getting from it compared to the GoPro. The GoPro just seems dull and washed out, and dare I say it... not as sharp as the Mobius. I'm selling the GoPro on eBay with all the GoPro adapters/mounts/accessories I've gathered over the years and putting the money towards FPV gear for either my Mini quad, or my new Skipper plane.

I'll let you be the judge though... take particular note when the cameras are pointing towards the sun... the mobius fares so much better

Mobius colours look over-saturated to me but youll know better with seeing the area for real, the only thing i could fault on Mobius mind was how bad it blurs when turning, take it slow and youll have footage as good as any other (checkout my Civic Centre vid - that was Mobius :)

I use my GoPro in Superview, gonna switch to 1080Wide today for a more zoomed in look, if i had a gimbal for Mobius id try it again for sure.

well that's another win for the mobius... the fact that you can actually change the picture settings. GoPro is fixed at what "they" think is best.

I'll definitely be turning down the saturation.

agree its the blur that lets Mobius down , it depends on the day / light condition's sometimes it don't seem so bad , if they put a faster processor in Mobius would be gr8, don't like the way it just uses middle of the sensor for 720 eather, but how can we realy complain you get what you pay for

exactly... £60 for the mobius brand new, over £200 for the GoPro, and the difference is marginal at best.

Strangely i still prefer my GoPro but it is the latest black model with extra modes n stuff, i do like its Superview ... not forgetting the GoPro software and its Protune filter etc :)
Mind you i have 3 Mobiuses too lol, 2 get used on our Metal Detectors and ones ready for flying :)

Considering the small advantages of the Gopro in general, I hardly use my GP1 or the GPBlack one now, mobious is a seriously good performer at a seriously good price, although it is very susceptible to water, I'd hardly call it splash proof!

You can't argue with the price either!
My First Mobious ended up in the sea on it's first flight, so just ordered another! Couldn't afford to do that with a GoPro!

Mine sat in a puddle fully submerged for a god 3 or 4 mins still works fine. But took a day to dry out and lost the file of the crash
