EzUHF woes
« on: July 08, 2014, 08:11:07 PM »
just installed an 8ch lite RX into my skywalker. as usual the ESC/throttle servo plug is in ch3 on the RX.

when I power up the ESC (with tx already on) the motor does it's usual ascending 3 beeps, but then it just beeps every 3 or 4 seconds. I first thought I might need to calibrate the throttle on the ESC, so I powered everything off and back on with the throttle stick all the way up... plug in the ESC and exactly the same happens, no indication that it's detected high throttle/calibration mode (it's a 60A plush).

So, back to turning it on "normally", that's with the throttle stick in the down position. it does the 3 ascending beeps, then the single beep every 3 or 4 seconds... I leave it like that and after about 20 seconds (i did absolutely nothing) I finally get the long beep from the motor. I try the throttle stick on the tx and nothing, but then after a delay of around 5 or 6 seconds, the motor spins up. when I put the stick down, it doesn't stop spinning until around 5 or 6 seconds later, but it's not always the same delay.

I plugged in the pan servo for my camera into the rudder channel. same thing, there's a massive delay but the servo movement is no where near "smooth" compared to when I first tested it.

has anyone heard of these issues and is anyone able to point me in the right direction please? thanks.

Not used EZUHF but usually the Tx needs to be in PPM mode to operate these modules!

Hi BM, yes I sold it ages ago... I needed to raise some funds to buy an iPad for when I went to Afghanistan. I'm back now, with a hefty bonus, so thought I'd upgrade lol

Right, back on topic...

It turns out that I had the tx and rx on different frequency bands, one was on 433-435 and the other was on 430-450 (xtrm hopping). Put them both in 430-450 and all works perfectly. Even the Storm OSD is now running from PPM rather than having 4 servo wires plugged in. Techinically, because I'm not using RSSI yet (EzUHF rssi not compatible with Storm OSD) I could get away with using a 4ch receiver in this:

Ch1 - PPM (AIL, ELE, Display Mode, Flight Mode)
Ch2 - Pan Servo
Ch3 - Throttle
Ch4 - Rudder

Storm OSD only controls aileron and elevator when in Pilot Assist and RTH mode, it doesn't control rudder or throttle. They have to be directly connected to the rx.

Been messing with rssi on ez today corps , one cheap easy way to convert pwm to analog voltage is use a old tiny servo take to circuit  board out of it center pot  optionally test and replace with a resister shrink rap neat little converter , parkzone one one I used game me 0 to 3.5v
