Hangar update

As many of you might be aware, I've spent a considerable amount of time out of the country recently. I had a lot of "projects" to be getting on with waiting for me when I got back, and thought I'd just share how I've been getting on.
DJI Phantom
This now has upgraded Vision 2 props on it, DJI state you can get a couple extra minutes flight time out of the stock 2200mah 3S that comes with the Phantom 1.1.1 with these babies.... not had a chance to test that theory yet. Also, I now have a GoPro 3 Silver underslung on the fancy pants carbon fibre anti vibe mount, along with a set of "broaden/heighten" replacement landing skids... lifts the Phantom up about an extra 3 or 4 cm, which is ideal as the GoPro was less than 1cm off the ground on the stock skids, potential for damaged GoPro if not landing on nice soft grass or flat gorund.
MonkeyBlunt Teksumo
Well, this went together really quickly, but I'll never build another wing like this again, not for FPV at least. EzUHF failsafed on me whilst flying the FPV maiden and I lost it over some cliffs. Only thing I could salvage was a 4ch EzUHF rx... which will have extensive testing carried out on it before I put it in anything else.
Skywalker
Before I went away, I sold a lot of gear I had stripped from my skywalker, including the Rangelink UHF, video gear and the Storm OSD. I've since bought all new 1.2 video gear, a new Storm OSD and upgraded my UHF experience to EzUHF (JR Module in a Turnigy 9XR). I bought the 1.2 gear from Hobbyking, but had issues with whatever BEC I was using to feed 5v to the VTX, overheating and shutting down... literally every one I used worked well for about 10 minutes before getting too hot. after cool down, the VTX and BEC would work perfectly again, so I assume you need to keep these in the airflow in the air. Anyhoo... I decided to sell the lawmate vtx and get a racewood one that runs off 12v. Wiring is simple as peas now, with the Storm OSD between the camera and the VTX, you simply solder a servo extension cable onto the VTX harness and plug it into the Storm OSD.
I've also scratchbuilt a pan mechanism for the Pixim Seawolf camera that's running on the skywalker, with room underneath it for a Mobius (unfortunately, the Mobius took a dip in the sea along with the teksumo and never returned
). As per usual, I will program a 2 position switch on my tx to swap the rudder stick inputs between the rudder and the pan servo.
Today I installed the new Racewood VTX into the wing about half way down the span. This should keep the antenna "visible" to the RX both flying away and towards the launch/home location. Only thing left to do is fix down the Storm OSD and program the TX... fiddling around to get the right throws/rates/expo etc... as well as setting up the Storm OSD.
I might end up getting the RSSI converter for EzUHF rssi compatibility, but as long as the RTH works, I'm not too fussed about a % value in the corner of my screen.
Twinstar 2
This was a second hand purchase from a guy from the "other" forum who lives local to my new digs. it was in a helluva state if I'm honest, he'd installed landing gear and fitted it with steerable nose wheel from a big standard size servo. The landing gear has been ripped off, it's had a new lick of paint, the bottom has been fibre taped (as I do with all my foamies) and the motors have been wired up for counter rotation. I will be using Graupner 9x6 counter rotating props... just because that's what I had in my bits n pieces drawer. I need to fashion a decent canopy for it though, as the one that came with was hacked apart for FPV and this won't be FPV'd for a while.... when I do FPV it, I'll like to make my own canopy modifications (possibly not even going to mount the camera on the canopy, so might just get a spare stock canopy for it).

Skywalker Update:
This evening I installed the UHF dipole into the right wing and hooked up the EzUHF receiver within the fuselage. After a brief speedbump regarding issues with the EzUHF, all is now complete. The Storm OSD is configured and the only things left to do are at the field (trimming etc)
