2 or 3 blades for mini prop
« on: June 03, 2014, 10:07:13 AM »
what's best for a mini quad?

I'm waiting on a few bits to build up a Minion mini quad, I've ordered some 3 blade 5030 props for it, but I've seen other people with 2 blade 5030 props.

what's better? and why?

2 blade is better, because it looks cooler.

In theory 3-blade is supposed to be more efficient and quieter than 2-blade, in practice any difference is marginal. What is interesting though is that a hex using the same blades and motors is noticeably quieter, probably more to do with the extra two motors mean less rpm required!

I found the 3 bladers give a bit more thrust in the mid hover  but climb rate is no more than the 2 bladers when opening up throttle higher,if that makes sense..lol..

lower rpms on 3 bladed, perhaps the 2 bladed with higher RPM gives it more response? I have only ever used 2 bladed.
