holy cow, that thing looks absolutely awesome
Great build job on that mate; well impressive. The curved front looks really well done. Can't wait to see footage of flight tests.
Are they your own plans? Is there any decent info on Canard's out there that you used?
I'm looking to turn a couple of sheets of foam into something fun to fly - something like this would be ideal for me (though perhaps a difficult choice for a first scratch build).

Thanks for nice comments fellas, will <hopefully> post pics or video of test / or crash.
I don't bother with plans just cut and glue, been creating "fryups" for a long time and some of them even fly!
. Hope it stays nice tommorow1
Cheers MIKE.

That's a beauty! Did you get to fly it today?
How stiff is that foam then? Tell us about your build process here.
Very nice looking build.

Hi Rick,
Yes realy good test ,flew o.k but needed more up trim first flight and I had to bang in the flaps on the canard sharpish to avoid flying into a barn
anyway sorted that and flew second time with no probs'.
Moving C.G back today to see if thats better .
The construction of the main wing is from a single piece of corex <plastic floor protection used by builders> and is dead simple < copied from UP UP s blog the rest is also mostly corex and from my head
It's very stiff and super light also cheap <8x4 sheet £5 >. so great stuff to experiment with.
Hope to put a video of test flight on soon.
Cheers MIKE.

Ah, is that the stuff they do estate agent signs etc with - the plastic stuff with lines of holes (not a very good descriptions!)
£5 a sheet! that's cheap.
Looks mean as hell that one - would love to see it flying!

Thanks Mr Ben,
And Gridlion, the Cof G is pretty much just by eye first ,I always start first flight forward of what I think is optimum then move it back until I'm happy with it. <"suck it and see" is the correct aerodynamic term I think> The guy on the camera is a mate ,but he was wynging a bit EH?
Hope to get a better vid' when the sun is out and I will get someone to fly it and do the Camera myself.
F.P.V. cameras in soon and "bloggie" in the nose aperture.
Thanks for watching, Cheers MIKE.

To be honest, those canards are far too close to the wing to have any real effect. If the fuselage were another two thirds longer then it would have a much greater effect. Looks great though, flies well too by the looks of things!

Quagmire,
The reason the canards are close to the main wing is so that when the flaps are down it increases the speed of airflow over the main wing for landing and so increasing retention of laminar flow during landing and high alpha flight.
Cheers MIKE.
