thanks for the info Papa, and great work Mihai.
I'll be getting another V2 RX soon, but sold my ftdi programmer with my tricopter (multiwii board)
don't suppose anyone has any spare (I think I asked this the other day whilst it was kicking off on FPVUK lol)

The length depends on the gauge of wire used and the insulation around the wire. Make it slightly longer than needed. Put the Tx upstairs in micro mode set up the Rx with a multimeter to measure RSSI and snip away till you get a peak on your RSSI. Voila a perfectly matched antenna

You can buy them from Simon but I've heard mixed results. Mihai makes antennas from time to time, I make my own but I honestly don't have the time ontop of work and other commitments to make one in a reasonable time frame

The ones I got from Simon are 160. Doesn't mean that's technically right, just saying.

This will probably be the last firmware release as ppl seem to have been losing interest in this lately (only 2 people actually bothered testing the beta).
------------------------------------------------------------
Final thUndead Firmware for the openLRS
Changelog:
- v2 RX Pinout reverted back to 3.1 (RSSI on pin
-RSSI is not rock solid as it was before
- Serial PPM on pin 9
- Hopping algorithm and recovery improved.
- 459 should be nice and reliable (tested 3km on ground)
- 433 should be even better
- Fixed nasty frequency change bug in GUI
- added channel selection dialog in GUI
DISCLAIMER
- Use this fw at your own risk. I cannot be held responsible for plane crashed, exploding rx/tx modules, aliens making contact etc lol.
- big thanks for papa_lazerous and ghost 2212 for bothering to test out the beta.
Background data
- Ground test was carried out on the 459Mhz band
Was tested up to 3km with some spare rssi left (ground test)
huge thanks to papa_lazerous for bothering to test this thing.
- rx/tx were stress tested for about 4h without any module lockouts / resets / etc (tx on micro mode in my Faraday microwave oven lol)
- RSSI was rock solid over this 4h period with slight variations (+/- 0.06v max)
so I can say that if this fw is doing weird stuff then you might be doing something wrong. (unless I can reproduce the bug and eat my words
) I challenge anyone to prove me wrong hehe.

Well done Mihai
It's a shame that it's the last but if the demand isn't there it's not worth all your time and effort

I'm gutted it may be the last FW but I'm happy that Mihai has delivered a rock solid 459Mhz capable FW to the UK users, something that Flytron didt manage with the official FW. We now have a viable cheaper option than EzUHF, which I still have never seen test data for on 459!
I'm flying the skywalker Sunday FPV weather permitting and I can put the firmware through its paces.

Well done Mihai.
I don't have the open LRS stuff to have been able to help testing etc, but it is apparent that you have achieved a massive step forward on this so my hearty congratulations mate.
If your actions allow people to think about buying a workable and affordable UK legal unit for UHF then that's one box ticked for keeping the CAA and radio people sweet.

would love to update the firmware on my hardware, but as mentioned earlier i don't have a programmer.
I'm after a second OLRS RX as well as a programmer if anyone has serviceable spares for sale?

The programmer is cheap as chips mate, you really do need one. You also need a cable to plug between the olrs and the FTDI programmer but thats childs play to make. I did until last week have a brand new in the box Rx, but I took it out the box for range checks last week and now its going on my tricopter.
If you goto flytron.com you can pick the Rx up for $55 + $3.50 p&p which is cheaper than getting from the UK. I would strongly suggest buying the FTDI adaptor too, I can give you a link so you know you got the right one. It would be wise to get on the latest FW, also you would need to program your new R with the same FW and headers as the Tx or it wouldnt work with it
