Might be worth seeing what the lowest voltage it will run off also as maybe heat is just from voltage regs . Old sony I had was 12v but ran fine off 6v

I think the low voltage needs to be tested, I'll run it again but I suspect that it doesn't like less than 10.5 volts, I don't have a variable PSU though
Mark is having trouble getting the Archos to recognise the video feed, I've been using my 2ch DVR and my Canon camcorder which are both fine, I'd like to see if Mark can get it to brod/ady to test on their Archos devices, I once had a similar issue using a USB capture device and it was down to the device requiring a video gain withing certain limits to recognise it and display it
Further testing needed like I've said all along really and before it goes on sale my end, really glad I happened to send one to Mark as not many people have an Archos in the larger scheme of things

Is this direct to archos , do they default to NTSC by any chance ,check in menu mark , on plane the pic will get put back together by the reciever , I use arch 604 and I've never had a problem not accepting feed, will check when mine get here , if it is video range he may be able to fix with a resister

OK just done another test to see if I can change the settings in the camera settings doesn't have the option so I went into the archos settings and changed it to NTSC us but no joy still can't show a image the image appears briefly for barely a second and then its b&w

what happens when you go through the video splitter within your AV box?
Tecnic I think the archos is more popular than you think, a lot of fpvers use them for ground station recording.

OK just done a quick test before I head off to work it works on my 10 inch screen displays fine so the issue ATM is with my archos .

Great stuff guys, well done, I may have to try to find a used Archos 700 so I can test cameras and see what can be done to solve this one

OK guys another update
It seems my last post got lost in the server move, so here's some more up to date info....
After finding that with the 800tvl CCD cam I couldn't get a satelite lock, I switched over to the live GoPro feed and got instant lock
Back at base I untangled all the wiring in particular making sure the camera feed and gps cables were seperate from all else
Tested again and same result, no satelite until I unplugged the camera
I've never had this issue before, I have used Cyclops stuff in plenty of other planes, no trouble, so I decided to try my CMOS 800tvl camera instead of the CCD cam, same result, no satelites, very odd, so then I unfix the GPS antenna and move it as far away as the cable will allow and I get full satelites on any camera, a bit puzzling as this very plane had previously had a Cyclops Nova on board with no trouble, I have another plane with a Cyclops storm and similar GPS antenna seperation and no trouble there
I'm now wondering if they've changed the GPS unit to something that is more vulnerable to RFI ?
This would probably be the case as the 800tvl CCD camera works fine on my APM quadcopter where the GPS is inches from the camera
Anyway the good news is that it's not the camera though it was interesting to see that these cams can put out a signal strong enough to mess up a poorly sheilded GPS antenna
Next issue is the Archos, I eagerly await the test results from you guys
