12v from balance plug.
« on: January 21, 2014, 03:47:38 PM »
Ok so I want to power my vtx and cam from the balance plug, I've bought a couple of balance plug extensions that I could hack up for this.

Q, so that I get to use the 3cells so no unbalance to the battery is caused do I solder the 3 neg wires together or use only one neg?

Thanks andy

just use 2 leads from batt balance leads, black usually far right will be your negative and white(usually) will be your positive, which will give you the 12v needed.white if HK cells is the white 4th along lead.
i'll post a pic for you Andy.
contrary to what people say, very little imbalance will happen but best balance charge after every flight.
using cam and vtx will only use about 0.03 mah after a 6-10 min. flight so easy to rebalance

are you using 3 cell or 4 cell lipo?

above advice is using a 4 cell lipo

if using a 3 cell lipo, just use black for negative and far lead,4th for positive, this wont imbalance any cells

Yes it's 3s battery, so do you mean to connect all black together for 3s?

Andy if you have more than one black wire then not all of them are negatives m8 only one of them farthest from red, best check with a multimeter if your unsure you can get them for a fiver and it saves you releasing magic smoke out of your components

Hi guys, I've just moved to 4S lipo's now, so I think my fatshark 250mw vtx will only take up to 13v

Do you all use a ubec on your vtx?
