longrange attempt at sunset.... turned into a night, are
« on: September 22, 2013, 05:22:19 PM »
I kept going... had loads of battery. I'm 99% sure this is external interference otherwise If it were local I would have seen it up until the 8KM mark, but I didn't.

Really want to get rid of this interference, then I'll be out to 25-30k with the amount of battery I got on this Skywalker.

Does it happen if you fly out a different way? have you tried a different channel? What vrx are you using? Your AHI isnt horizontal.

how much mah total do you have in your skywalker?

I have single 5Ah LiPo and with my flying style lately, I get around 11-12km flying distance from nearly 4Ah... I guess I just need to change my flying style, learn to be frugal with the throttle stick :)

Yeah happened in an earlier flight in which I was pointing in the opposite direction. I am using the RMRC 800mw VTX with stock rubber whip and the optimized patch. Yeah my AHI was going crazy that flight for some reason. Didn't want to reset it in flight so I kept going :)

I checked Amateur TV relay map on 1280mhz, I was in a dead zone according to their map, far away from any of their high power relays.

9000mah 4S. In this flight I was using quite a bit more throttle than I have to because it was windy and I wanted to speed the flight up. I normally cruise around 7-9amp.

Could be UHF too nr your rx, try lawmate rx as they aren't affected by UHF like others. You can also try 1160.

Woohooo! Thanks for the suggestions to try a lower frequency... I did and went for a flight yesterday on my day off and managed to go 10KM in my usual spot with perfect picture all the way. I didn't get a single black bar, a single cut out, no interference what so ever. It was literally the perfect flight. So I know my video was good to at least 12km, and judging by the quality of the image (inbetween frames of interference) I'd say it would be good for another 5-6km at least. Distance wise the Skywalker is good for 45km.

So now I'm all ready for the flight I have been obsessing about for the past 3 months day and night... going off-shore to fly over the wind-farms off the coast of Kent. There are two large arrays which depending on launch point will be around 13-14km away.

I will be watching the weather over the next few weeks, really want to get this done before winter sets in proper.
