Yes Chris, the 100km flown is a duration test as oposed to a radio range test so there's no need to fly off in a straight line

As for the shipping cost, I enquired with them before I even had a business about bringing them here in bulk
The only way to do it is to use a freight forwarding company to ship along with all your other Chinese supplies and get them (literally) on a slow boat from China
This means huge initial outlay and money tied up in stock that might or might not sell fast enough and that measn bigger than normal risk and therefore has to have sufficient margins added to cover the risk which in turn makes it less likely that UK people will buy them quick enough

In short it's just not worth it

On another note, has anyone noticed how Hobbyking's prices seem to be skyrocketing or is it just me
A 2.6m foamy glider at $254 ?, the new HK Skymule at $200 for a plane that I would have expected to be closer to $140 from HK ?

Not sure if it's actually greed or recent changes to shipping laws over in china! Once it was all free postage but more & more are changing to paid shipping!

here in the uk you can get some bargains:
quite a reasonable size 1.6m flying wing, source UK $68 (£40) Shipping £8.50p
http://www.flying-dog.co.uk/shop/vega-flyingwing-1600mm-p-111.html

Wings are typically noisy so attract attention, although the larger ones can be quietened down with a low kv motor and big prop! or of course go with a conventional aircraft like the twinstarII (£40~43) locally will also avoid shipping costs.

Personally I'm not happy about paying more than £100 for a lump of foam whatever the reviews are like!

Which good airframe for half the price are you talking about?

Is it 2 meter? moulded with detachable wings and require only simple assembly? with lots of space for fpv equipment

no trying to be funny, just the sort of things I am looking for.

Everybody has different requirements I suppose!

Long distance where there is a high possibility of losing the model then "cheap" would be high up on my priority list! Maybe an ideal category for the Vega Flying wing at 1.6m, Non plug-able wings although I was carrying 2 x 4000mAh 3S.

The TwinStar will carry a single 5.8mAh battery and is affordable to loose (gulp!)  at £40 for the airframe. Plug-able wings. Could leave it in the boot for any fpv opportunity!

Or splashing out on a ZXL (Proven flyer!), I'd use that for endurance! That one is 2.0m! Carry 2 X 5000mAh 4S with ease, I've never emptied the batteries yet! But would be scared to use it for long distance flying(out and back), too much cost in batteries,Airframe, electronics and GoPro, Must be pushing a grands worth! wings non plug-gable, suppose they could be but I wouldn't  bother!

I think my zxl is the best wing I've ever bought , sure it's a big bleeder to move around will only just go in my 3 series with seats down and no passengers but it's easy to get in the air is gr8 to fly, has a small amount on nose bob at speed unless you have lots of weight in it , but will carry loads most I've flown with was 3x 4200mah 4s but was still easy to launch with right config would fly with 25000 mah easy, I love my std z2 also but are slightly harder to get I. The air due to smaller prop

Yea the problem with any wing with small prop is NOISE and lots of it!
Difficult to fit a large prop on a small wing due to the excessive cut-out needed, but straightforward on the larger wings!
I like to treat the zxl as a gentle giant. Quiet (with the right motor), pleasure to fly, and the airframe not much dearer than the standard zepII
