How about we move some to classifieds and the really spammy ones we just delete, i just moved a carbon skywalker thread to classified as it offered 10% discount so though it may be worth keeping.

Definitely need to retain the odd item, but discount should be compulsory for that to happen.

I agree, if they're going to use our forum to advertise their products... instead of an advertising fee they should at least offer a decent discount for members of the forum.

It's a hard call really and one that can only be made by the forum owner/admin
You could try to be a purist and have a no advertising policy but people will still assume that you are somehow making large sums of money (that's people for you)
You could allow all the spam/crap
You could make your own selective decision based on whether or not you feel it's usefull to the forum and members as a whole or not
I'm fine any way, I can recognise a spam thread before I click on it so if I want to I can avoid it

I'm sure we all can all recognise it. I would just prefer it out of the way where it can be easily avoided in the first place and subsequently not resurface in searches. Use of a sub-forum would enable hiding of that forum, so guests don't see it, nor I think search engines. Also, keeps the stuff away from newcomers who may not recognise it for what it is.
