Well the weather is lousy, completely opposite to last week. Trouble is I need my FPV fix.
So enter stage left my FPV drift car....
Only took an hour to convert my standard car. This has a keychain camera connected to a 200mw 5.8g vtx. The camera is mounted on a standard servo, connected to the steering servo with a y lead.
Damn good fun racing round the house, terrorising the dogs and kids and when you get a drift on the camera turns with the steering and you can look out of the door windows :-)

I've been contemplating sticking something on my sailing boat! Although was primarily thinking of using the key-chain cam to get some unconventional camera angles. Need to make up some brackets...

Just a bit of fun but here is the video of some FPV driving.
I was really suprised that 5.8g would work around all the trees but it did !

Cheers Ben - it's one of those key chain cams used as drive cam and for recording.

Fresh from the relative success of the fpv car I have started a new project! It's a FAV FPV ! Won't be ready for ages as I am painting and weathering each part as I assemble it.

looks cool that Ant... cant wait to see some fpv from this bad boy.
I first encountered FPV around 10 years ago... I had one of those "spy camera" kits, where you power a camera with built in 2.4 transmitter with a 9v battery (the ones we shouldn't lick but do anyway lol) and plug an AV rx into the telly... meant for cheap ass CCTV.
I put the camera in my ford focus rally car and drove it down my street and back whilst sitting at my massive 28" CRT widescreen telly (did you detect the sarcasm?)
didn't record it or anything, wasnt like today's FPV but the concept is identical.
I'm starting to think that ground based FPV like what you're doing Ant is a lot more straight forward, and perhaps cheaper than Air based FPV.
you can get a RTF car on 2.4 for peanuts, chuck a GoPro and 5.8vtx on there and you're laughing

Cheers Chris - to be honest bud i just like to try FPV in as many rc disciplines as i can. Besides my kids like the cars and can experience FPV with practically no risk. In fact anyone can have a go with a car and it helps to educate them that FPV is about fun not spying on people ! wouldnt mind getting a few on the go and a bit of a race.
My dad wants me to FPV a boat for him next

sounds wicked...
as for panning that head... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Turnigy-TGY-R5180MG-180-Degree-MG-Analog-Servo-perfect-for-pan-and-tilt-cameras-/151012206605?pt=UK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN&hash=item232907680d
I have 3 of these, keep buying them because when my planes crash they destroy the servo horns, not the servo... buy new ones just for the horns lol.
I have servo horns from loads of other 9g servos, but none fit
