Rmilec - RC Model Reviews
« on: April 09, 2013, 05:04:20 PM »
Does anyone subscribe to RC Model reviews on YouTube? I've just watched Bruce's flight with an rmilec system. He didn't really rate it which worried me a little as i am an avid user. To be honest I haven't had any of the problems he has had and certainly not lost contact at 1 km out. Also mine doesn't run that hot either which is contrary to what he said.

I know some of you guys use it and most of the reports I have seen say its OK. What are people's thoughts. If you watch his vid the antenna are not in the correct orientation. I mentioned this to Bruce but he doesn't think that it should matter at 1km out??

I've had no issues with mine but I've only been out as far as 2.2km, no glitches at all and a very solid 100% RSSI all the way

I didn't really want or need super long range just a solid link out to a max of 4km really

My Futaba would get me that far but not without worrying drop outs

I commented on that too Ant, about the antennas. it was clear that his antennas were not mounted correctly on the plane and also from the way he was sitting, his tx antenna was always either pointing to the sky or pointing directly at the plane, wrong wrong wrong. plus he was using stock antenna, i changed to a nagoya whip immediately.

I too have never experienced lock outs, glitches or overheating. They either sent him a duff unit or he's damaged it when he opened it up... or he's just intent on giving it a poor review.

I rate my RMILEC highly for the price.

I don't subscribe to him! Used to respect him for some of his early videos but as these people produce more, they seem to fall into the trap of feeling obligated to produce more regular videos for the hungry subscribers (Maybe they get money for number of hits or something, I don't know) what appears to happen is that the quality of the content gets sacrificed in order to just increase the video count. Often they become boring, sometimes misleading and sometimes just unsubstantiated opinion!

I've seen it happen on youtube with other interests, ie. machining and electronics! Next they start promoting clothing, tee shirts and other crap.

If you want genuine feedback, search forums for users experiences, if that r/c system was faulty/not good, then you would find a lot of negative talk about it on the forums...
