camera gimbals and gyros ?
« on: March 29, 2013, 04:01:36 PM »
All,

okay i'm currently building my own Vulcan Camera ship

Now gimbals are interesting and are crazy options for control boards but what I am lacking to understand is why no one is using Helicopter Gyros for the stabilisation ?

I mean one gyro on tilt a csm 720 gyro with a Dam good servo should hold and then another on the other axis again it should hold...

main challenges though I suspect is finding servos the right size for the job and the fine tweaks but gyros like the CSM ones you can tinker inside there settings.

They can hold a 90 size helicopter tail in a cross wind steady as... so why not hold a camera gimbal steady ?  or am I missing something which is very likely...

Try to find servo which will give you smooth operation and really fast response = really expensive or shite.

helicopter servos and yes they cost vs the shite that we use for FPV foam models :)

Congrats on buying the Vulcan Mark, glad it all came good in the end.

I've seen a few discussions about heli gyros on gimbals, and it is something I'm toying with, depending on how my naza performs once my new gimbal arrives from rctimer.

I don't see why it wouldn't work.
