FPV Speed competition....
« on: January 18, 2012, 11:25:40 AM »
Saw a thread on another FPV forum whereby people are posting up videos of flying out a mile and back again and timing it.

Thought it was a bit of fun, anyone up for it?

Rough rules would be:

Need to see the FPV with OSD video, time starts when you take off, you need to fly 1 mile out and then turn back again and you need to land within say 30 meters of your home. Time stops soon as you land.

Is a mile too far? Not sure how far everyone flys here :)

1 mile sounds good to me, sadly my new slipstream wont have GPS but I will be entering this comp with something else maybe. So are we including the take off too? Take off fly a mile as per gps, return and then land, clock stops when the plane comes to a halt! Lets see who will set the first time! I can guess who ;)

Including the takeoff makes a bit more fun I think, otherwise it just comes down to who has the fastest plane.

Instead it's got a bit of technique in there :)

Unfortunately I don't have a way to record yet, looking around for a DVR. Laptop would work but not too keen on having it out whilst I fly tbh.

that plane of yours is capable of a different type of record mark, you just need big balls ;)

Hmm...

Maybe if the new wing is up to any sort of speed, I might just buy a little something ending in 4s :)

Ok lets make it 1KM, most OSDs work in KM anyway and it sounds like we will get more entrants.

So Launch ... Fly 1km, turn around, fly back and land within 30m of launch point!

Is it open to multi copters too?
Perhaps we could have different classes. I would def go for 1km and back.
