My new GS Setup (WIP)
« on: November 13, 2012, 09:27:11 PM »
So I have been struggling with my 2.4 video signal for 6 months now, its was fantastic but went downhil and I couldn't isolate the problem. So I changed frequency and built a while new ground station with RVGS being at the core, this is a work in progress but this is it as it stands right now.

RVGS is a volt alarm, diversity video switcher, 4 way video splitter, it can also be used as a antenna tracker although I wont be using that function, when flying with RVOSD it will also display various flight data (by scrolling through menu) like GPS XY, battery voltage, speed etc etc

However the RVGS doesnt handle power for any components so I built a power box to split power up between my GS in a tidy manner, on the left of the black box in this pic you have a spare power output and on the right is the power in, I power this of a 3s 5000mah lipo

On the other side the power box is supplying current though the balance lead to the RVGS and it also has 2 x power outputs directly underneath the 2 video inputs, these are for the 2 Lawmate VRX's although I am currently only running one.

On the front of the power box is a simple on/off switch

Here you can see it powered up from the lipo, VRX plugged in on the right hand side (power out and video in) and on the left one of the 4 video outputs is taking a signal to my archos.

My new tripod with the lawmate vrx and a 8dbi linear patch, I have ordered a second lawmate vrx this will be used with a dipole, it should be here before the weekend.

In all its glory :) So the tripod and RVGS sits on the roof of my van, Im inside with just video leads running in to the archos/tv which has its own power source.

I fly from a 22" Logik TV (not shown) the 12v 12ah PB powers both the LCD TV and charges the Archos via the 5v UBEC

Here the archos using 1 of the 4 video outputs from the RVGS

nice and neat Ben, what's in the black box? I'd like to make something similar to attach my Archos to, would contain LiPo and power splitter...... 5v BEC to feed the archos, and regulated 12v to feed external RX

just a bunch of wires Chris, like I said the RVGS does everything I need except split power off to everything, my old AV box which the shark now has was more like what you want, that one had a lipo internally as well as a ubec, small fan to cool, volt alarm, onvon vid splitter, volt display
