Video editing/masking GPS figures
« on: January 12, 2012, 12:01:15 PM »
Just a quicky and I am not sure exactly where it belongs so feel free to move it...

If I want to post an FPV video that has my OSD showing my GPS and I want to mask that area of the image to stop big brother knowing my exact co-ordinates does anyone know what software or process to use?

I figure there are a few people people here that will know this and a few more who would benefit from knowing how to do it

All help appreciated

John

I'm pretty sure Sony Vegas will do that although I never have used that feature!

what software do you have? Pretty straighforwad in most packages (other than Windows Movie Maker). You just need something that can either layer multiple paths or something that does PIP (picture in picture) and have an oblong box covering.

If it's not too huge and want me to edit it for you, host it on vimeo somewhere and I'll download and re-upload.

I didnt know Vegas could do it, to be fair the learning curve is a little steep.  I have a copy so will dig deeper and play with it.

@Balders, thanks for the offer.  I do really need to learn how to do it myself but if I get stuck I'll give you a shout

just create a box image on a video track and move it so the it totally obscures whatever it is you want blocked. Don't get confused by trying to "fuzz" it out or pixelate, just go for the "tippex" approach :)
