tricopter yaw setup
« on: January 11, 2012, 08:42:56 PM »
Just thought I'd post a piccie of my tricopter yaw config, it's pretty much as per the rcexplorer plans, the steering thingies can be had from giant cod for pence, just make sure you order two (ask me how I found that one out!).

You dont have to drill one and find a tight fit rod, you can have something loosish in both, just make sure you seal the end so whatever it is (M4 bolt with the head cut off in my case) can't work it's way out. A dab of hot glue did it for me. The servo horn should keep the other end in, although I glued it too to be safe.

love the hardcore fiber-tape in there :D

Had the direct servo drive on my AP tricopter but in a pretty rough crash it destroyed my 30$ expensive high torque servo so went back to linkages.

Here's my Yaw config:

yeah pretty similar, works great eh?

The fibretape is just to hold the sponge landing ball on...the kept coming off when I just tried velcro so I thought sod it...fibre tape ftw!  They've not come off since :)

Just to share an alternative - this is one I've seen on RCG and like for its' simplicity too

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3524209

Looks heavy wih that bolt but it's not actually that big or heavy.  I've found a nice thin one to use for the same design.

Always good to see the different options for this sort of thing.
