well on my quad it only powers the cam as I have a 3amp ubec powering the 5v lawmate vtx, but no interferance. btw I also have a LC filter before the vtx.

It's a switcher, so it shouldn't get hot.

Look up an LM2596. See if you can get one for anywhere near the price of this entire unit. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a copied bit of Chinese silicon inside that thing.

Do you have a scope Ben? Might be worthwhile seeing what the ripple is like if you do. Oh and it'll be putting crap back into the supply, so anything running before this reg will be affected.
